Custom Professional Machined Skived Fin Thermal Heat Sink

Skiving heat sink manufacturing technology is a one-of-a-kind metal forming process that is most commonly utilized for copper and aluminum heat sink integrated forming.

“Precision Skiving” is a term used to describe actual processing technology that is difficult to imagine, but it is simple to understand thanks to the phrase “Skiving.”

Processing method: thin slices of a desired thickness are cut using a specialized planer that has perfect control. The slices are then bent upward into an upright position to produce heat dissipation fins. (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/y–Z0SwsSWA)

The Skiving Process

Skived heat sinks are made by precisely controlling and sharpening a blade tool to remove fins from a bar of solid copper or aluminum. To create the fin, the tool pulls up and bends a small portion of the material vertically after shaving it. Using standard fabrication methods, including CNC machining, the final heat sink can be manufactured. Skived heat sinks are an affordable alternative because they require little in the way of tooling costs. To further enhance performance, skived heat sinks can also be modified with integrated heat pipes.(https://youtu.be/AzoTtMnibZE)

Characteristics and Advantages

brief lead time

Low cost of tools

Extremely high aspect ratio (50 or more)

Extremely high fin density and thin fins

Embedded heat pipes are an option to further improve performance.

There is no heat resistance or contact junction between the base and the fins.

Maximum heat dissipation in the presence of strong airflow during forced convection
